Fie Isolde’s pieces are handmade in LA by goldsmiths and women from the Downtown Women Center in Los Angeles.
"Living in Hollywood and working downtown LA, you quickly realize the huge homeless issue that Los Angeles is facing. I felt I needed to contribute and help the best way I could. I looked at my production to figure out what parts could be done by people not having a background in the jewelry industry, but who are creative and love to use their hands. Most of my beaded and handwoven pieces are made by ladies who currently live at the Downtown Women Center and who have had a tough life. These women are much stronger than I will ever be and I’m amazed that they have the motivation to get out in the workforce. In order for them to keep a job, they need flexibility and a warm and motivating work environment. It’s my responsibility to give them this at my workshop.
Every piece that comes out of my workshop, regardless if it is a piece of jewelry, packaging, or a tote, the product is created with a passion and love for the creativity, which definitely shows.
Furthermore, I focus on creating my pieces locally to help minimize all imports in order to leave a smaller CO2 footprint. I truly believe that we all need to contribute in order to save our planet and people. We need to set a good example and be good in mind and spirit.”
The Downtown Women’s Center (DWC) is the only organization in Los Angeles focused exclusively on serving and empowering women experiencing homelessness and formerly homeless women. DWC envisions a Los Angeles with every woman housed and on a path to personal stability. Its mission is to end homelessness for women in greater Los Angeles through housing, wellness, employment, and advocacy.
